Moldovan prime minister says having ambition to round up 2018 building largest network of renovated rural roads

Chisinau, 01 March /MOLDPRES/ – The opening of Government for an effective dialogue with local public authorities (ALP) was reconfirmed today by organizing a meeting with mayors and district heads in context of inauguration of National Festival Martisor – 2018. During the event, Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, reiterated importance of maintaining a permanent communication and establishing direct contacts with representatives of ALP to strengthen the local administration.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that in the course of the previous month, in order to stimulate collaboration, meeting with members of Administration Council of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova, as well as representatives of the Euroregion Association Siret-Nistru-Prut. Similarly, Prime Minister said that dialogue between the central and local authorities would continue on platform of Joint Committee, but also of joint working group, set for prompt solution of the problems existing at local level.
"We all want a modernisation of the country, but to succeed we have to coordinate. All problems can not be solved overnight. I am convinced that by taking small, but well – targeted and secure steps, we can advance towards strengthening and modernisation of local communities and authorities. Together we have enormous responsibilities in front of our citizens," said Pavel Filip.
There were discussed topics of major interest for localities, during the meeting, including infrastructure quality, with emphasis on rehabilitation of roads. In this respect, it was presented project of new National Programme: Good roads for Moldova. "We will allocate needed resources to build and repair over 1,200 km of roads in rural areas. We have this ambition to end this year, leaving behind the largest network of rural roads built in Moldova so far," said PM. The dialogue also focused on combating domestic violence, protection of victims of violence and undertaken actions by the authorities on it.
The representatives of ALP have been open to collaboration and joint realization of projects dedicated to citizens, welcoming opening of Government, as well as support of development partners on it. An appreciation message for the support provided by external partners gave Pavel Filip: "Your presence at event today makes us feel together as a European community. Let us all have a European spring here in Moldova and end 2018 with all projects becoming deeds", said the PM.
