Moldova hosts international music festival Martisor

Chisinau, 01 March /MOLDPRES/ – The International Music Festival Martisor, 52nd issue, which will take place on 01 – 10 March in Moldova and abroad, was inaugurated at National Palace Nicolae Sulac in Chisinau today.

The event was attended by Prime Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, representatives of the central and local authorities.

At the event beginning, the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, mentioned that in 2018 the Festival has title: Martisorul este iubire (Martisor is love) and is dedicated to a special event, namely enrollment of Martisor on 06 December 2017 into Representative List of Immaterial Cultural Patrimony of Humanity. The drafting of celebration: Cultural Practices Associated to the Day of 01 March in UNESCO Representative List was launched in March 2014 by the Ministry of Culture of Moldova, in partnership with the Ministries of Culture of Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Macedonia. "Through Martisor, I became part of universal culture," said Monica Babuc, mentioning that there are artists from 13 countries at issue 2018.

Interviewed by agency, state secretary at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, Andrei Chistol, said that issue 2018 would include 54 musical performances, out of which 26 concerts to be organized in Moldova’s different districts – Anenii Noi, Balti, Soroca, Glodeni, Causeni, Criuleni, Ungheni, Ialoveni, Stefan Voda, Orhei, Nisporeni, Rezina, Straseni, including four in Tiraspol city.

The official said that at Martisor would participate famous artists and bands from abroad, such as: Ottawan (Germany), Afric Simone (Belgium), Academic Dance Ensemble Virskii (Ukraine), Ricchi E Povery (Italy), Marcos Ayala (Argentina), Anda Union (China), Antonia&Alex Velea, Delia (Romania), Samometsvety (Russia), Mdzlevari (Georgia), Mirage (Latvia), artists from Portugal, Czech Republic, USA.

During the festival opening concert of, Valentina Nafornita, Tatiana Lisnic, Alexandra Conunova, Andrei Jilihovschi, Mariana Bulicanu, Igor Turcanu, Ianna Novac, Mihai Dogotari, Geta Burlacu, Cristi Aldea – Teodorovici, Cornelia and Marcel Stefanet, Viorica and Mihail Agafita, Dumitru Mitu, Mzdlevari Choir of Georgia, Jazz Orchestra of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts, Art – Studio Repede and Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic.

The first issue of this music festival took place in 1966 at the National Philharmonic in Chisinau, founder of which was the late Alexandru Fedco, former director of the Philharmonic. The festival comes to enjoy the local audience with notorious names not only from Moldova, but also from all over the world, transforming Chisinau into a true cultural center.
