Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/- A meeting of the Joint Control Commission, led by the Transnistrian delegation, took place in Bender on 1 March. Major Alexandr Poperecinâi, Major Dmitry Konev and Captain Alen Gvozdev were confirmed as military observers from the Russian Federation, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

Also, the commission heard and approved the weekly reports of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone during 14-20 and 21-27 February 2018.

The Moldovan delegation to the JCC announced the commission’s components of organizing and conducting on 2 March the events dedicated to commemorating the fight for defense of integrity and independence of Moldova, and called on the parties’ legal structures to interact with the representatives of the joint peacekeeping forces to ensure public order in the settlements in the Security Zone.

The participants in the meeting approached again the problem on the construction by the Transnistrian side of the checkpoints around the bridge between the Gura Bacului and Bacioc localities. Despite the proposals by the head of the Russian delegation and Ukraine’s representative in JCC to contribute to ensuring free movement on this bridge, the Transnistrian delegation refused to provide any guarantees for abstaining from unilateral and uncoordinated actions with the JCC, rejected the constructive proposals proposed by the mediators, confirming by the statements of co-head Oleg Beleakov that the alleged structures in the region intend to expand the infrastructure and build a so-called “customs terminal” in Bacioc village, where representatives of the self-proclaimed force structures: “border guards”, “customs officers”, “militia”, etc will be involved in.

The Moldovan delegation to the JCC has repeatedly expressed its concern about the intentions of the so-called power structures in Tiraspol, noting that they will lead to tense situation in the area of responsibility of the peacekeeping forces and will create new impediments to the free movement of persons on both banks of the Dniestre river.

The next commission meeting will take place on 15 March 2018.
