Moldovan prime minister commemorates heroes fallen in armed conflict on Dniester

Chisinau, 02 March /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, participated at commemoration meeting of the heroes fallen in the Dniester war and deposited flowers at monument Mother in grief at Memorial Complex Eternity today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
In addressing veterans, Prime Minister highly appreciated the courage and patriotism of military men and volunteers who defended integrity and independence of Moldova. "All those which defended Homeland independence represent real life models for us," said Pavel Filip.
The Prime Minister said that the government he has managed would continue to do everything possible to support the heroes of Moldova, noting that it was developed Action Plan: Memory. Honour. Respect, offering social protection solutions to veterans.
The head of the Executive stated that Moldova’s reintegration target has remained a priority for government. Related to it, there have been undertaken several important actions recently, including access of farmers in Dubasari to the agricultural land located on road Tiraspol – Camenca, good functioning of the schools on the left bank of the Dniester with teaching in Romanian, as well as control in common at the Moldovan – Ukrainian border at crossing point Cuciurgan – Pervomaisc. After Supreme Rada ratified the Agreement on joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border on 01 March 2018, it will be extended throughout the border.
"For the first time since events of 1992, Moldova fully controls the border. We will not stop here. We will persevere until we ensure country’s reintegration," said the PM.
The armed conflict on the Dniester, which took place 26 years ago, involved about 60,000 soldiers, policemen, reservists and civilians. There were involved almost 30 thousand combatants directly in combat actions. According to the Ministry of Defence data, there died 286 persons in conflict on the Dniester, while 284 others were disabled.
