Moldovan prime minister, speaker of Georgian parliament discuss bilateral collaboration

Chisinau, 02 March /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, today had a meeting with Speaker of Georgian Parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze, visiting Moldova for participation in Interparliamentary Conference: Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and Current Security Challenges, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The parties noted an intensified dialogue between Moldova and Georgia, both at parliamentary and governmental levels. Thus, in 2017, Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, paid an official visit to Georgia and the Moldovan – Georgian Intergovernmental Commission for Commercial and Economic Cooperation worked in 2017 too. On this occasion, it was also organised a forum of businesspeople from both countries.
The officials said there was will, interest and potential to further develop bilateral collaboration. In the first semester of 2018, Prime Minister of Georgia, Ghiorghi Kvirikashvili, is due to pay a visit to Moldova. A new meeting of Intergovernmental Commission for Commercial and Economic Cooperation is planned on this occasion.
A particular attention was paid to cooperation within education, cultural and humanitarian aid and tourism. Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, mentioned interest of Moldova in taking over Georgian experience in reforming justice, attracting foreign investors and tourists.
Also, the head of the Executive pointed out importance of strengthening efforts for European integration of Moldova and Georgia. "It is vital to exchange views and experience as to make our European path easier and faster," said Pavel Filip.
Georgian Speaker of Parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze, supported the idea, noting that Moldova and Georgia have confronted with similar challenges and problems, with a common historical past. Similarly, they have a well – established goal: integration into EU and achieving this goal means important mutual support at bilateral level as well as in international structures. In this regard, the officials particularly highlighted cooperation within Eastern Partnership, as well as the exchange of experience for implementation of Association Agreements and Free Trade Agreements with EU.
