National campaign for open data promotion launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 05 March /MOLDPRES/ – The State Chancellery, Electronic Governance Centre and Youth Development for Innovation Foundation launched on 03 March 2018 national campaign to promote open data: Do you know what your government is doing? related to the Worldwide Open Data Day. Deputy Secretary General of Government, Adrian Ermurachi, experts of Electronic Governance Centre, opinion leaders from on – line media, NGOs, private sector and IT sector attended the event, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Campaign: Do you know what your government is doing? aims to present benefits of open data and encourage authorities to provide access to these data, so as to increase citizens’ confidence in public institutions. It will take place in March – May 2018 and dedicated to promoting government data among users, capitalising on them and stimulating dialogue between government and youth in civil society, business, and IT sector. It is worth mentioning that teamed up young people will be able to create open – ended applications to address various social issues in areas of health, education, infrastructure and regional development.
There will be organized work visits to authorities in charge for publishing and ensuring access to open data, as well as info sessions in universities within three months.
The electronic questionnaires will also be conducted for journalists, public sector employees, business people, companies ICT and general public. Based upon these polls, themes for organising an Open Data Hackathon will be established on 03 May on the World Press Freedom Day.
The World Open Day is celebrated on 03 March yearly, being an initiative of states which want a transparent, efficient and open government for their citizens, developed on basis of new info technologies.
