Meteorologists announce yellow code of ice breaking in Moldova

Chisinau, 07 March /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) announced the Yellow Code for breaking of ice till 12 March.

According to the SHS’s information and media communication service, it is forecast destruction of ice in water basins and lakes of Moldova, in connection with sudden warming of weather conditions. Also, some sections of rivers will cause leakage of the ice beds with formation of holes.

"The ice is thin, fragile and soaked with water, while walk on it poses danger, so we warn fishermen to be prudent and parents to supervise their children," says a statement of SHS.

Similarly, sudden warming and snow melt will intensify leakage formation on slopes at local flood risk.

Related to it, economic agents subordinated to accumulating lakes are warned to check status of dams and where needed to carry out consolidation works.

In the upcoming days, thermal peaks are up 16ºC, isolated with precipitation in form of rain and variable sky.
