Moldova Fruct association announces tender for selecting company due to export apples to United Arab Emirates

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldova Fruct (Fruit) Association, in partnership with the High Value Agriculture Project, financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has informed about a tender for the selection of a company for the supply of a container with fresh apples to the market of the United Arab Emirates.
The organizers commit to bear the spending for transportation, including the delivery of the sea container at the platform for loading the goods and back to the port, loading on ship, transportation by sea. The producer will supply apples demanded on the market of the Middle East: red varieties (Red (Chief, Delicious), Gala, etc) or Golden, quality I, according to international requirements.
Moldova Fruct said that, on 18-22 February 2018, a group made up of producers, processors and exporters of fruits, nuts and honey participated, with the support of Moldova Fruct and USAID High Value Agriculture in Moldova Project, in a business mission at the Gulfood international exhibition in Dubai. Producers managed to establish more contacts with potential buyers on the market of the Middle East.
According to the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), the market of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) remains a traditional one for the export of fresh fruits. As much as 177,000 tons were exported in 2017, of which 173,000 tons to Russia. At the same time, ANSA noted that fresh fruits were delivered not only to traditional markets of the CIS countries (Belarus and Russia), but also to other markets, including of the European Union. For instance, fresh plums are exported to 16 countries, thus becoming an attractive product for Romania, Estonia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Croatia, Germany.
ANSA Director General Gheorghe Gaberi has recently told a news conference that the Moldovan authorities were making efforts to open new markets for export. Decision-makers work to get right to export to India, for instance. According to Gaberi, in India, there are already more operators showing interest, in discussions with Moldova Fruct, to take over quantities of 300,000 tons and more. Possibilities to export to Israel, Saudi Arabia and other countries are also considered.
