Moldovan government approves allocation of funds for repairing national, local roads

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers today approved the Programme for allocation of funds for the National Road Fund (FNR) for 2018 and Programme for regular repair of local, communal and public street roads. According to government’s decision, financing of works for renovation of the national public roads will be made based on means of FNR and regular repair of the national, local, communal and street roads – from the state budget.
According to the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, for national public roads in 2018, according to the Programme for allocation of the funds of FNR, there is projected about MDL 972 million while MDL 822.8 million will be allocated for maintenance and repair of public roads, out of which MDL 492 million will be directed to improve traffic conditions in localities that are crossed by national roads.
About MDL 150 million will be used for reconstruction and repair of national public roads and engineering constructions, execution of design works, road evaluation and land purchase, co – financing of bypass road Ungheni construction project, acquisition of info system for issuance, management, monitoring and control of electronic vignette.
The implementation of the provisions of Programme of repair for local public roads, communal roads and streets will improve quality of road infrastructure in 1,242 localities in Moldova. Totally, expenditures amount MDL 1.6 billion.
"The programme of periodic repair of local roads, communal roads and streets is aimed at improving traffic conditions through most of Moldova's localities, which will lead to improved trade and productive investments, increase competitiveness of economic agents and labour mobility in rural areas. The programme will be financed from additional allocations from state budget, as long as necessary funds are accumulated through the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI)", said Chiril Gaburici, at the meeting of government.
The acquisition of works for each district and quality control of works will be carried out by State Road Administration (ASD).
Recently, at a meeting of mayors and heads of districts, organised by Government, it was announced launch of the new National Programme: Good Roads for Moldova, appreciated as most ambitious infrastructure project launched after declaration of independence. The programme provides rehabilitation of around 1,200 km of roads to cover almost 1,200 localities.
