Moldovan, Liechtenstein premiers speak out for developing bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip and Prime Minister of the Principality of Liechtenstein Adrian Hasler expressed interest in improving the bilateral relations at a news conference held in Chisinau today. Adrian Hasler is on a visit to Moldova on 12-13 March, as a first PM of Liechtenstein visiting Moldova.     

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the officials ascertained a positive dynamic of the political dialogue between the two states, despite a relatively recent establishment of the bilateral ties in 2001. In particular, Pavel Filip highlighted the work of the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED).    

PM Pavel Filip thanked for the support provided to carry out numerous projects for the improvement of the vocational education, employment of young people, organization of trainings in the entrepreneurship sector, promotion of quality in early education, inclusion of disadvantaged groups.  

“Education is a priority for Moldova. Presently, a new vision in the field is under elaboration and special emphasis is put on the vocational education. The experience of Liechtenstein to this end is quite valuable for us,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip said.  

PM of Liechtenstein Adrian Hasler confirmed willingness to share his country’s experience in the professional education sector, which provides foundation of the economic growth, increases the number of qualified specialists and cuts the  number of unemployed among young people.    

At the same time, Adrian Hasler highlighted the friendship between Moldova and Liechtenstein, noting that Moldova was one of the main cooperation partners in the development sector. “The Liechtenstein Development Service has three offices of cooperation worldwide and one of these offices is in Chisinau,” which shows the special relation between the countries, the official stressed.  

So far, projects worth over 12 million euros have been financed, based on the agreement on humanitarian assistance and technical cooperation on behalf of Liechtenstein, the entrance into force of which marks its tenth anniversary on 13 March 2018.  

PMs Pavel Filip and Adrian Hasler also discussed possibilities of developing relations in the commercial and economic sectors, including possibility to organize a forum of business people from the two states. “The investment potential of Liechtenstein is quite big; we want to have these investments in Moldova too, in important sectors and which are well-developed in Liechtenstein, such as the financial and banking and production fields,” Filip said.    

Prime Ministers Pavel Filip and Adrian Hasler showed confidence that this visit would mark a new phase in the relations between Moldova and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
