Moldovan Democrats propose candidate for office of Justice Minister

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/- Victoria Iftodi is the PDM candidate for the office of Justice Minister. Democrat leader Vlad Plahotniuc made the statement today. He said he regrets Alexandru Tanase’s departure from office, and respects his decision.
Plahotniuc said that today, several proposals on the position of Justice Minister were discussed within the standing bureau of the PDM, and after the consultations, the Democrats decided to propose Victoria Iftodi for this post, who is currently serving as a judge at the Constitutional Court.
“We regret Tanase’s departure from office, but we respect his wish and thank him for accepting to be part of this government,” he said.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip will submit Iftodi’s candidacy to President Igor Dodon.
Victoria Iftodi graduated from the law faculty of the State University of Moldova. In 2004-2006 she held the position of Justice Minister and representative of the government in relations with the parliament and Constitutional Court. Subsequently, she served as ambassador of Moldova to France and Algerian Republic, and since May 2017 is a judge at the Constitutional Court.
