Gas Natural Fenosa group extends deadline for submission of bids for new contracts

Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/- The Gas Natural Fenosa group has extended the deadline for submission of bids for new electricity purchase contracts, given that it has got only one offer of supply, and a company requested one day extension of the auction.

The request for bids for purchasing electricity for 1 April 2018-31 March 2019 was launched in late January. The Gas Natural Fenosa group in Moldova has sent requests for receiving bids for the purchase of electricity to 20 electricity suppliers and traders from Moldova, Ukraine and Romania.

Four companies, Energocom, Kuchurgan power station, DTEK Trading in Pavlodar and Donbasenergo in Ukraine, were invited to participate in the tender.

The Gas Natural Fenosa group informs that a meeting of the committee on getting, opening and validating bids was held on 13 March. Given that only one offer from a supplier has been submitted by this date, a situation that does not meet the conditions of a competition and due to the receipt of a request to extend the one day bid for another potential supplier, in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure on annual purchase of electricity, the deadline for submission of bids has been extended until 14 March 2018, 14:00, a press release reads.

The Gas Natural Fenosa in Moldova assured that “it makes every effort to identify the most advantageous offers for electricity supply in terms of price and reliability and delivery security over the entire contractual period.”

The old contracts expire on 31 March 2018.

In early June 2017, Energocom announced that part of the electricity for the needs of Moldova is procured from Kuchurgan power station at 45 dollars per MWh. The price is 10 per cent lower than the one paid to DTEK Trading (Ukraine) and the previously paid one, the Ministry of Economy announced.

The Gas Natural Fenosa in Moldova is the largest supplier of electricity for end-users, with more than 700,000 customers.
