Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - About 80 non-governmental organizations from both banks of Dniester will benefit from technical assistance within a project financed by the European Union. The project will last three years and sees organization of workshops and trainings for civil society’s representatives.

”The civil society is a force capable of moving reforms, enhancing the efficiency of the work of the public institutions and facilitating the active participation of citizens in the management of public and political processes. Also, the civil society has a crucial role in the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement,” Michalko said.

The official noted that the financial sources for financing projects for the civil society are provided for in the country document unveiled in late last year. ”In 2017, five million euros was earmarked for the financing of similar projects,” Michalko added.

Project manager Giorgios Alexopoulos said that the assistance document was based on three pillars: technical assistance, consolidation of NGOs, support for the EU delegation in Moldova. Alexopoulos noted that the document’s goal was to consolidate the institutional capacities and improve the managerial abilities of the local NGOs’ members.

The project is implemented by the consortium led by Family and Childcare Center (KMOP) and is financed by the European Union.
