Chisinau, 15 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Arena, the first multipurpose hall in Moldova, might be constructed in the Stauceni settlement, Chisinau municipality.
A group of MPs today registered in parliament a draft law, which provides for the switch of a plot of land of 69 hectares from the Stauceni village, Chisinau municipality, to the category of lands meant for constructions, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
“Since the declaration of independence so far, the concert halls and sport halls have been destroyed and re-oriented. For the first time after 26 years, we can build a multipurpose arena in Moldova. This draft, which I hope will be supported by all colleagues in parliament, is the first step for this arena to become reality,” Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, one of the draft law’s authors, has said.
A multipurpose arena will allow Moldova hosting international competitions, concerts and far-reaching cultural events. The Chisinau Arena will provide room for training according to the international standards, including to performance sportspeople, and will create a space for turning to good account the potential of young people, providing new opportunities and representing an instrument for the young people to fulfill their rights at home, in Moldova.
The Chisinau Arena is to be constructed through a public-private partnership; the arena is to have a capacity of up to 5,000 places and big spaces for sports, cultural activities, training areas, Olympic swimming pool, tennis club, as well as exhibitions, conferences and meetings. The term suggested for carrying out the project is one year.
