Newly-appointed head of Constitutional Court of Moldova

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/- Mihai Poalelungi was appointed today as head of the Constitutional Court of Moldova (CCM).
According to the CCM’s press service, Poalelungi was appointed for a three-year term. Under the current legislation, the election of the head of the court takes place by secret ballot.
In the morning, he has sworn in before the parliament, president and members of the Superior Council of Magistracy.
Poalelungi was appointed as judge of the Constitutional Court by the Superior Council of Magistracy on 6 March 2018, following the personal resignation of judge Tudor Pantiru.
Earlier, Poalelungi has served as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of Moldova and judge and head of the Supreme Court of Justice.
