Social allowances for some categories of citizens to increase in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - The state social allowances for some categories of citizens will increase. The parliament today approved a draft law to this end with the votes of 82 MPs.

Under the new regulations, the size of state social allowance for persons disabled from childhood aged up to 18 years will grow by 20 per cent. The payments will be recalculated starting from 1 January 2018. About 12,100 children and 27,300 persons disabled from childhood will benefit from these allowances.  

The state social allowance for persons with disabilities and for children in case of losing the breadwinner will rise by ten per cent. Also, the social allowance for elderly people and the allowance for care, accompanying and supervision will increase by five per cent. All these increases will be established and applied as of 1 April 2018. About 78,100 people will benefit from increases in all.

Financial means worth about 65 million lei was provided for in the state budget law to pay these increased allowances.
