Tiraspol continues strengthening infrastructure of its power-wielding forces nearby Bacioc village

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - An extraordinary meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) took place in Bender on 15 March, during which more subjects were considered. At a proposal by the Moldovan delegation, JCC examined and confirmed in office a military observer on behalf of Moldova, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.     

The Commission also approved a report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone on 7-13 March 2018.   

The Transnistrian delegation issued the text of an addressing, thereby recognizing, in fact, that in November 2017, on the eve of 18 November, when an official ceremony on reopening of the traffic on the bridge across the Dniester river nearby the Gura Bacului and Bacioc villages was to take place, Tiraspol representatives, without a preliminary coordination with JCC, started fortifying the infrastructure of the Transnistrian power wielding forces’ post nearby the Bacioc village, including through the increase of the number of staff: “border guards,” “militiamen of the migration service,” and “customs officers”, empowered with the compulsory registration and control of all people and transport means due to move across the bridge.     

These unilateral actions of Tiraspol are in disagreement with the earlier reached agreements within JCC and represent a doubtless proof of the fact that the Transnistrian side refuses to observe the regime of the Security Zone and the commitments taken.    

Moreover, additionally to the already undertaken actions, through this document, Tiraspol’s representatives reiterated their intention to build, in the next months, a so-called “parking” with the infrastructures and duties of a true customs terminal for high-tonnage trucks and other types of transport means.   

Thus, we can state with all certainty that the concerns on the intentions and destabilizing actions taken by Tiraspol’s representatives, set forth by the Moldovan side innumerable times in the last months, were fully grounded and justified.  

Given the emerged situation, the Moldovan delegation repeatedly drew attention of the delegation of Russia, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission to the fact that the practical carrying out by the Tiraspol structures of their intentions will create new obstacles to the free movement of people on both banks of the Dniester river and will trigger new tension in the Security Zone.   

In the context of these developments, we believe that, in order not to allow a further destabilization of the situation in the Security Zone, it is necessary that the peacekeeping mission applies all leverages available without delay.   

The next meeting of the Joint Control Commission will be held on 22 March 2018.
