Moldovan parliament turns down simple motion against deputy premier

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today rejected a simple motion on the domestic and foreign policy carried out in the European integration sector by Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.  

Iurie Leanca unveiled a report to MPs, in which he enumerated the actions he had undertaken since taking over the office of deputy prime minister and the projects under implementation. Leanca noted that the authorities had fulfilled all conditions for Moldova to get the first installment of the macro-financial support on behalf of EU and asked for the parliament’s backing for laws needed to fulfill the other requirements.   

During almost two hours, the deputy prime minister answered all questions by lawmakers, after which the leaders of the factions also took the floor.    

After the latter’s speeches, Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that he  regretted that the today’s discussions had been turned into circus and no MP came up with clear-cut proposals and any vision about the way Moldova is to cover and how it is to cope with the challenges in the region. “Moldova’s European integration has no alternative and nobody can contest us this right,” Leanca said.    

A group of MPs of the factions of the Party of Communists and Party of Socialists registered a simple motion on the policy in the European integration field. The lawmakers said that “the establishment of an office of deputy prime minister for European integration proves the fact that the state’s policy on this dimension has failed, has a declarative character and makes our state go bankrupt.”
