Moldovan wines get prizes at annual contest organized by World Trade Organization

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova, represented by the wine company Chateau Vartely, ranked first, at dessert wine category, at the traditional contest of wines, annually held by the World Trade Organization (WTO). The winner trade mark of Moldova was Chardonnay Sweet of the central region of Orhei, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction department has reported.
Moldova participates in this context for the second time. At the previous issue from 2016, Moldova won, for the first time ever, the first places at two categories: Pinot Grigio de Purcari, at the white wine category, and Kagor Pastoral, at the dessert wine category.
The assessment of the quality, aroma and nuance of wines was carried out according to a formula set by experts of the world trade system. At the same time, the providing of points for each category of wine was made by diplomats of WTO member states, as well as by high-ranking international officials of diverse Geneva-based organizations.
Wine companies from 45 states displayed their products at the contest in 2018. Among them there are: Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Russia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Mexico, Moldova, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, the USA, Uruguay, New Zealand, Kingdom of Morocco, Spain, Ukraine.
