Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is interested in boosting the bilateral political dialogue, commercial, economic, cultural and other types of relations with the State of Israel, both based on the present platforms and on other opportunities provided by international organizations. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi has made statements to this effect at a meeting with Ambassador of the Jerusalem-based State of Israel to Moldova Eliyahu Yerushalmi.

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service, Minister Ulianovschi welcomed the fostering of the Moldovan-Israeli ties in the last years, especially in 2017, when more bilateral meetings were organized, including a visit to Israel by the Moldovan prime minister, inter-ministerial political consultations, Moldovan Culture Days, etc. “We are interested in taking over the practice of holding Moldovan-Israeli economic forums with the involvement of representatives of the business environment from the two countries and we reiterate the importance of the participation of representatives of the Israeli communities of business people in the most important events held in Moldova,” the Moldovan diplomacy head said.

Tudor Ulianovschi and Eliyahu Yerushalmi agreed on continuing the Moldovan-Israeli cooperation in extending the bilateral legal framework. The sides reiterated willingness to re-launch negotiations on draft bilateral agreements to enhance the living standards of both countries’ citizens, including on the prevention, fighting and sanctioning the trafficking of human beings, in the social security sector, etc. Minister Ulianovschi noted that the agreement on social security was an important document for Moldova’s citizens carrying out activities in Israel and set the level of their social protection when establishing the right to pension, as well as in case of occurring a labour accident or appearance of a professional disease.

At the meeting, Tudor Ulianovschi proposed to organize the Days of the State of Israel in Moldova and other events to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries. He evoked the interest of the Tourism Agency to participate in the annual International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM), due in early 2019.

Ambassador Eliyahu Yerushalmi conveyed to Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi an invitation to pay an official visit to Israel in 2018, which was accepted.
