Secretary General of international organization describes Moldova's agenda as ambitious, with practical spirit

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi today discussed with Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) Altai Efendiev Moldova’s priority actions as chairman of ODED-GUAM, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
Minister Ulianovschi stressed the importance attached by Moldova’s authorities to the organization of a meeting of the prime ministers of the GUAM member states, scheduled for June 2018. “Moldova, in its capacity of GUAM chairman-in-office chairman, approaches this forum of the GUAM heads of government as a platform for stepping up and boosting the cooperation within the organization. To this end, the concomitant holding of a Business Forum is scheduled, which will bring together representatives of the business environment from the member countries, especially representatives of the small- end medium-sized business, which is regarded as an engine of economic development,” the Moldovan diplomacy head said.
Tudor Ulianovschi and Altai Efendiev exchanged opinions on the format cooperation GUAM +, which includes diverse projects on cooperation between GUAM and traditional partners, especially the USA and Japan, as well as prospects for the development of relations with the Visegrad Group members. According to the foreign affairs minister, the main goal of this activity segment of GUAM is the working out and implementation of concrete projects in diverse fields.
The GUAM secretary general said that the agenda proposed by Moldova as chairman-in-office was ambitious, with practical spirit in the organization’s work, which is to end both in palpable results for the citizens of the member states and to deepen the collaboration of the GUAM member states within international and regional organizations.
Moldova has been holding the rotating chairmanship of GUAM starting from 1 January 2018. The visit by the organization’s secretary general is aimed at considering, jointly with the Moldovan authorities, diverse aspects dealing with the exercising of the chairmanship and the organization’s work.
