Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - The OSCE Mission in Moldova will transmit four sets of technical equipment to military observers on behalf of Moldova, Transnistrian region, Russia and Ukraine of the joint peacekeeping forces.
The action will take place at a meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), due on 22 March.
The equipment includes laptops, colour printers, portable GPS navigators and film cameras. The equipment was bought at JCC’s demand to improve the exchange of information between military observers and JCC on the situation in the security zone.
“The work of JCC and peacekeeping contingent does not boil down to ensuring security – they should also ensure the free movement in the security zone. I hope that the equipment due to be donated will help JCC achieve this goal,” Head of the OSCE Mission in Moldova, Ambassador Michael Scanlan said.
The OSCE Mission in Moldova since 1994 has been participating in JCC as observer and has been patrolling the entire security zone.
