Over 715 thousand retired persons to receive higher indexed pensions since 01 April 2018 in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ – The average size of old – age pension will increase by 6 per cent from 01 April 2018, according to Government's decision on indexation of social security benefits and state social benefits, which was adopted today. A total 532,178 pensioners will receive an average MDL 96.36 a month more.

According to the legislation in force, pensions are indexed according to forecasted increase in consumer price index for previous year.

The disability pensions will increase MDL 75.82 for 128,555 pensioners, successors with MDL 50.49 for over 12 thousand beneficiaries. The average pension of the participants into liquidation of consequences of Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster will increase MDL 201 to 1,792 beneficiaries.

According to actual legislation, only part of pension, paid through state social insurance budget, is indexed. The amount of minimum retirement pension from 01 April 2018 will be MDL 1,025. The difference between amount of minimum pension and guaranteed minimum income will be paid out of state budget.

For indexing social benefits from 01 April 2018, over MDL 553.6 million will be needed.

Also, through a Government decision approved today, there were updated cumulative indexation indexes for pensions, as well as coefficients for value of insured income for 2017 that will apply to calculation of pensions starting 01 April 2018. The project states that from 01 April 2018 old – age pensions and disability pensions will be valued in 2012 – 2013 and from 01 October 2018 pensions of those categories of pensioners set in 2014 – 31 March 2017. Thus, in 2018, early retirement will be made for old – age pensions for almost 142,300 beneficiaries and around 22,405 beneficiaries of disability pensions.
