Moldovan diplomacy head meets U.S. Ambassador

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi has had a meeting with Ambassador of the United States to Moldova James D. Pettit. The officials made a retrospective of the principal bilateral events held since early 2018 and set basic priorities in the Moldovan-American cooperation for the immediately next period.
The sides found out that the recent visit to Chisinau by U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Bridget Brink had given a new impetus to the development of the bilateral ties and encouraged the sides’ more active involvement in the implementation of programme on cooperation of the Moldova-United States agenda.
The diplomats ascertained the sides’ mutual openness in the consolidation of a productive political dialogue, through boosting the strategic dialogue Moldova – USA, including through organization of high-level visits, meetings of joint working groups in diverse sectors, etc.
Touching upon the Transnistria-related issues, Tudor Ulianovschi and James D. Pettit stressed the need to continue the five-plus-two negotiations, in order to identify a political solution to the Transnistrian conflict, with the observance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, providing a special status to the Transnistrian region.
