Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - A draft law providing for the switch of a plot of land of about 70 hectares from the Stauceni village, Chisinau municipality, to the category of lands meant for constructions will be considered by the parliament at a meeting due on 23 March. The standing bureau today ruled to include the draft for examination this week, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
After the meeting, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu said that, by the approval of this draft, the ground on which the Chisinau Arena, the first multipurpose hall in Moldova, is to be constructed, would switch to the management of the Culture, Education and Research Ministry.
According to Candu, the launch of such a far-reaching project is a novelty for Moldova. “In the last 26 years, almost nothing important has been built for the society; on the contrary, stadiums, play-grounds and community centres were destroyed. No enough investments were made in culture and sport. Therefore, I am glad that something is happening daily as for the draft planned and announced two weeks ago. Today, the draft is discussed and considered by the government and in this way, our action plan is carried out with mathematical accuracy,” the speaker said.
At the same time, Andrian Candu stressed that, in line with the action plan, an international tender is to be held and the construction works are to start in June-July this year, which might last about one year. “In one year, we want to be able to enjoy the existence of the Chisinau Arena,” the parliament speaker noted.
We remind that a group of MPs registered in parliament a draft law which provides for the switch of a plot of land of about 70 ha from the Stauceni village, Chisinau municipality, to the category of lands meant for constructions.
The multipurpose hall will allow Moldova hosting large-scale international competitions, concerts and cultural events. The Chisinau Arena will provide room for training according to international standards, including to performance sportspeople, and will create a space for turning to good account the potential of young people, providing new opportunities and representing an instrument for fulfilling the rights of young people at home, in Moldova.
Chisinau Arena is to be built though a public-private partnership, with a capacity of up to 5,000 places and generous rooms for sports, cultural activities, area for training, Olympic swimming pool, tennis club, as well as exhibitions, conferences and meetings.
