Over 130 road workers involved in cleaning up roads in Moldova

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/- There are winter conditions in the country, and over 60 heavy machinery and 135 road workers were involved in snow removing and spreading anti-skid material last night.
The head of the operational service of the State Road Administration, Sergiu Capatina, said that patrol, snow removal and anti-ice activities were carried out on national roads. “Workers scattered 711 tons of anti-skid material,” he said.
“Road sections showing increased danger to road traffic in winter are monitored jointly with representatives of the National Patrol Inspectorate,” he said.
The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, Liliana Puscasu, said that the rescuers and firefighters intervened in three risk cases for unlocking and hauling means of transport. “The interventions were concentrated in the southern part of the country, especially on the routes from Gagauzia. The situation in the country will be further monitored. People are urged to listen to the authorities’ messages, and in emergency situation to call - 901, 902, 903,” Puscasu said.
According to the border police, at present, the Cosauti-Iampoli crossing point remains inoperative, due to the increase of water level in the Dniester river. Travelers can opt for crossing nearby – Soroca-Tekinovka or Otaci-Moghiliov-Podolsk.
The State Hydrometeorological Service announced Yellow Code of cold waves on 22-24 March. The air temperature will be at 6-11 degrees below normal climatic values. At night, it will record to -15 degrees, and -12 degrees during the day.
