Violence acts against medical employees to be punished under law in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - The violence acts against medial employees will be sanctioned. A draft law which provides for the amendment of the Contravention Code was adopted with the votes of 79 lawmakers in the final reading today.

Following the legislative amendments operated, the insulting of a medial employee during his/her work will be sanctioned with a fine worth from 500 lei to 1,250 lei. Also, the offence of a medial employee, accompanied by hooligan actions and bodily harm, will be sanctioned with a fine worth up to 7,500 lei or contravention arrest of up to 15 days.

The authors said that these legislative amendments would create efficient mechanisms of protecting the health and rights of medical employees. According to estimative statistic data, about 100-120 cases of different forms of violence against medical staff, including verbal, psychological or even physical abuse, are annually recorded in Moldova.
