Moldovan authorities say all roads accessible

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - All roads of Moldova are accessible, with the road traffic taking place in winter conditions, authorities have said. At the same time, roadmen, rescuers and firemen monitor and patrol the roads in danger of being buried in snow.  

The management of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), at an operative meeting, instructed to create three departments of monitoring and patrolling of roads in danger of being blocked.    

Rescuers and firemen will go to roads of the regions Cimislia – Comrat – Taraclia, Hancesti – Leova, as well as Anenii Noi – Causeni – Stefan Voda, to act in case of blockage and skidding of transport means.  

At the same time, crisis cells will be formed in the Departments of Emergency Situations Cahul and Comrat, where competent employees will take decisions to help people if necessary.   

The IGSU press officer, Liliana Puscasu, has told MOLDPRES that, at present, there are no blocked highways and roads and the road traffic takes place in winter conditions in southern Moldova. “Citizens are urged to listen to authorities’ messages and not to set out unprepared. Drivers are asked to avoid trips to the southern region of the country and if they cannot be avoided, they should be equipped properly with winter tyres and should have shovels and chains in the car boots. In risk situations, people may urgently call the services 901, 902 and 903,” Puscasu said.      

The Chisinau city hall said that all the city’s streets were accessible at present. The municipal enterprise Exdrupo Administration acts with 20 vehicles and spreads anti-skid material on the Chisinau streets. Also, the housing and utility administration intervenes with 12 equipments to clean pavements and employees of the municipal enterprises for dwellings’ fund management clear of snow the public transport stations and crosswalks.     

At the same time, the National Patrol Inspectorate recommends that drivers adapt their speed to the winter traffic conditions and use lights if the visibility in the car’s winders is low because of snow.  

The State Hydrometeorological Service announced Yellow Code of heavy snowfall valid for the southern region for today. Presently, heavy snowfall is recorded in the districts of Vulcanesti, Comrat, Ceadar-Lunga, Taraclia, Cahul, Cantemir, Leova, Cimislia, Hancesti, Ialoveni, Basarabeasca, Causeni, Stefan Voda, Anenii Noi, Criuleni, Straseni, Nisporeni, Calarasi and Ungheni.
