Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today evening participated in an event on marking the eighth anniversary of the opening of the Balti Free Economic Zone (FEZ Balti). The PM thanked the leadership of FEZ and the enterprises carrying out their activity at this zone for contribution to the creation of an attractive business environment and to the development of the national economy, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
‘’There is nothing more important for a prime minister than to see that there are jobs, that people work in good conditions, are nourished at their workplace and are provided transport,’’ the prime minister said following a visit paid to Balti today.
The prime minister stressed that FEZ Balti, which is the youngest of the seven free economic zones from Moldova, is the most successful one. ‘’Attract as many as possible investors to Moldova, as we need them. This is the philosophy of this government, which we declared as a pro-business government. We want to make social investments and public investments,’’ Pavel Filip said.
For his part, the manager of FEZ Balti, Marin Ciobanu, emphasized that the enterprises situated in FEZ Balti contributed not only to the increase in the budget revenues and the creation of new jobs, but also prove a higher social responsibility, through contribution to the staff formation.
The Balti Free Economic Zone was created on 23 March 2010. In eight years of work, the value of investments in FEZ Balti increased from 6.7 million dollars to 161.8 million dollars, with more than 6,200 jobs created. For this year, the residents of the zone have already signed contracts which imply investments of 110 million dollars and the creation of another 8,000 jobs.
