More national roads to be patrolled in Moldova at night

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - More national roads are to be patrolled at night. At the same time, at a request by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the leadership of the National Army will mobilize the staff subordinated and the special technology to participate in works of clearing Moldovan roads of snow.

The decisions were taken at a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations, summoned by PM Pavel Filip today evening.  

According to the rulings, policemen, rescuers and carabineers will patrol the highways Chisinau – Causeni – Anenii Noi – Varnita, Chisinau – Leuseni, as well as Chisinau – Calarasi – Ungheni. At the same time, crisis cells, which manage actions of the forces involved were created in the southern and central Moldova.

The enhanced towing technology of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) will be ready to intervene to de-block and tow transport means. According to IGSU data, today, rescuers and firemen intervened in 16 risk situations to unlock and tow transport means. The actions took place on roads from the districts of Anenii Noi, Hancesti, Cantemir, Straseni, Nisporeni, Ialoveni, Causeni, Criuleni, Taraclia, Basarabeasca, and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.  

For its part, the Defence Ministry said that three teams of military men with KRAZ and KAMAZ vehicles of the Codru Engineering Battalion of the Negresti village, Straseni district, intervened on the road Ma14 to get out of snow several high-tonnage cars, blocked in the region of the Greblesti village. Thus, till 19:30, six TIR vehicles and six persons were unlocked.

According to the State Roads’ Administration, the road traffic on national roads is ensured in winter conditions and works of patrolling, clearing the snow and fighting the glazed ice presently take place. If necessary, big trucks, which are not endowed with winter tyres, are temporarily stopped by patrol inspectors and kept standing on footways.   

At the same time, the Chisinau city hall informed that, for the moment, all streets and ways of access from Chisinau were practicable and the road traffic was taking place in winter conditions. At present, interventions are made to clear streets of snow and 90 vehicles are spreading anti-skid material. During the day, 470 tons of anti-skid material and 33 tons of technical salt were spread. The housing and utility administration acts to clean pavements, entrances into yards of the blocks of flats and at stations of public transport. At the same time, the municipal enterprise, Association of green areas management, intervened with five transport units to clean access ways in parks and alleys. The acting general mayor, Silvia Radu, asked for maximum mobilization to ensure the city’s clearing of snow till 24 March morning. As a priority, the ways of access to public institutions, streets on which the public transport moves and the roads to suburbs are to be cleaned.  

The Chisinau International Airport said that, at present, all technology of the Avia Invest company and its personnel uninterruptedly worked to clear of snow 450,000 square metres of the area for airships’ movement.  During the day, about 15 tons of liquid reagents and 10 tons of granulated reagents were applied, so that airships could take off and land in maximum safety. The technical equipment is prepared to intervene also during the night, if the snowfall continues. At present, there are no cancellations or delays in the take-offs and landings of planes.  

Meteorologists announced Yellow Code of snowfall and glazed frost, valid for southern Moldova, for today. Afterwards, the warning was extended for the central region too. Minus 4 Celsius degrees are expected in southern Moldova and down to -13 degrees in the northern region this night.
