Great Centennial Assembly held in Chisinau

Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/- Thousands of citizens gathered today in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau at the Great Centennial Assembly to mark the 100th anniversary of the unification of Bessarabia with Romania in 1918.
Attending the event were politicians on both banks of the Prut. The manifestation began with the Anthem of Moldova and of Romania. Several speakers spoke in front of those present, and voiced confidence that the only chance to escape poverty is the unification of Moldova with Romania.
The organizers of the event said that this was the biggest unionist demonstration since the proclamation of Independence of Moldova. They noted that about 100,000 citizens attended the event.
For his part, deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said that about 7,000 citizens participated in the event. “All subdivisions of the Interior Ministry were mobilized to ensure public order. Our duty is to ensure public order and citizens’ right to free expression,” he said.
The participants in the event adopted the Proclamation of the Great Centennial Assembly. Under the document, the unification of Bessarabia with Romania is the only solution for the survival and progress of the Romanians between Prut and Dniestre.
The Great Centennial Assembly ended with the dance of unification.
