Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ – Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, asked the National Automobile Transport Agency (ANTA) to check the activity of taxi companies all over Moldova, after there were reported more irregularities.
The request was made during an unannounced visit to ANTA. "We are getting people to report that taxis in the districts do not have yellow licence plates and no toll charges. Please check the activity of taxi companies and take the necessary actions so that all carriers operate according to similar rules of the game," said the minister.
Another issue addressed was interurban passenger transport, namely non-observance of timetables, over speeding, illegal passenger transport and parcels. "There are problems with issuance of transport authorisations. A carrier has only one transport unit in operation but has five routes. I ask you to come up with solutions. Similarly, I want to know who checks drivers in localities if they have passed the medical and technical check before the race," said Chiril Gaburici.
According to the minister, "on route Chisinau – Balti, the drivers are fighting to get as many passengers as possible." In this context, the official recommended that the employees of Agency travel with public transport to feel the transport problems on their own.
Also, at the point of view of Gaburici, ANTA will check the weight of trucks, which causes roads deterioration. "Make unannounced controls as often as possible. For example, in Anenii Noi district, place weigh scales and check trucks coming from quarries," concluded the minister.
In a press release, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) said that until upcoming week ANTA employees would come up with already undertaken exact solutions, actions and proposals to amend transport legislation.
