PM urges citizens to save energy resources

Chisinau, Dec. 18 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean today urged citizens to take measures to save energy resources. The official said that the authorities will ensure that there is enough energy for the right bank, "but we must prepare for more difficult situations."

"I come with an exhortation to respond to the Energy Ministry's request to have a thrifty attitude in relation to energy spending. We must reduce energy spending where it is possible and this is possible. And obviously encourage everyone to do it. We will make sure that there will be enough energy for the right bank, but we have to prepare for more difficult situations," Recean said at the beginning of today's cabinet meeting.

State Secretary of the Energy Ministry Constantin Borosan today reacted to false information online in recent days that Moldova will no longer have electricity. The official said that this is not true and presented the data on the sources of electricity supply of our country for December 16. According to Borosan, one of the main good news is that renewable energy has come to be 14% of our consumption on this day.

At the end of last week, the authorities launched the Save energy - pay less campaign, which informs citizens about a series of actions that can help us save energy resources. The Ministry of Energy also issued a circular to central and local public authorities, urging them to implement concrete measures to make energy consumption in public institutions more efficient.

Since 16 December, a 60-day state of emergency has been declared throughout Moldova. It was proposed by the government under the Report of the Commission for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova, and given that the shortage of energy resources directly and immediately affects the security of the state and citizens.
