Salaries of local public administration employees to increase by up to 50 per cent in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The public officials of the local public authorities (APL), as well as other APL employees will receive higher salaries. The government has given a positive notification to a legislative initiative which provides for amendments and completions to the law on wage payment system in the budgetary sector, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

Thus, the mayors, deputy mayors, district heads and deputy heads, praetors and deputy praetors will monthly get supplements worth up to 50 per cent of the office salary. Therefore, while till present, the average salary for APL management offices has been 6,135 lei, it will reach 9,200 lei after the increase.   


The wages of the staff providing the technical service and good work of the local public authorities will grow by 1,190 lei. They will receive up to 3,580 lei monthly following the providing of stimulation payments, worth 15 per cent of the office wage. 

The quantum of the stipulation payments will be set by the APL management, depending on the means available to this end in the APL budgets. In 2018, the money for the draft’s implementation will be directed from the resources seen in the state budget for covering the additional expenses of APL. The sum needed monthly for providing stimulating payments at the maximal limit amount to 5.5 million lei.  

The draft is aimed at increasing the incomes of the budgetary sector employees, enhancing the attractiveness of the public office, attracting and maintaining young specialists, as well as at preventing the corruption in public administration bodies.
