Day care centres for children of up to three years old to be set in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ – There will be set up a new social service for children aged 4 months to 3 years by local public authorities (APL). It involves the creation of day-care centres in communities, which can accommodate up to 12 children.
According to the Framework Regulation on organisation and operation of "Day care centre for children aged 4 months and 3 years" approved by Government, it will provide assistance to children in accordance with their individual developmental circumstances, strengthen parental competences and support families in solving identified issues.
Children will be admitted to Centre at request of parent or person in which care they are. In service, children will benefit from nutrition, life skills training, development of behavioural skills.
Since 2011, this service has been developed and piloted in Chisinau, Balti municipalities and Glodeni city, where six such Centres were established. These ones are intended for solitary mothers and families in crisis.
According to the Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection's information and media communication service, during operation of Centres, the risk prevention rate for child separation was 90 per cent.
