Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ – The mixed system will not be canceled and political representatives are urged to identify candidates to launch in electoral race. The statement was made today by Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, during a press conference.
"All citizens of Moldova, including those which are protesting today in front of Parliament, must understand that mixed system will not be canceled and that the next parliamentary elections will be organised throughout this system. We recommend that political representatives prepare very well for elections and identify candidates in electoral districts in the country and abroad," said Andrian Candu.
As for invalidation of elections in Chisinau, Speaker said that Parliament took a stand by a statement and a ruling passed last week. "By means of these documents we express our concern about invalidation of elections. The Legal Commission has been delegated and asked to investigate, assess, document, and come up with recommendations and solutions to overcome the issue within 60 days so we have no such cases anymore," said Candu.
Several sympathisers of PPDA and PAS have protested today in front of the Parliament of Moldova. The demonstrators demanded validation of elections in Chisinau, annulment of mixed voting system and accountability of magistrates which decided to invalidate elections in Chisinau.
