Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ – A protective mobile barrage, 1,100 m in length and over 1 metre high, will be brought to Moldova in late August. It can be mounted and dismantled if necessary, and rescuers will be able to use it in the case of increased water levels in flood – prone areas.
The new flood prevention techniques using mobile barrage have been taught by ten employees of Internal Affairs Ministry (MAI) General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), which participated in a training course in Czech Republic. This took place within the framework of the Moldovan-Czech project "Improving operational and professional competencies in the field of flood prevention".
According to IGSU's information and media communication service, due to project, there will be brought, next to the mobile barrage, two water-absorption pumps with a capacity of 6,000 litres/min to Moldova in August. Also, in October 2018, representatives of the Czech Republic, together with employees of MAI IGSU, will carry out practical applications with delivered equipment under the conditions specific to Moldova.
Project "Imbunatatirea competentelor operaționale si profesionale in domeniul prevenirii inundatiilor" (The improving of operational and professional competencies in flood prevention) is in its second stage, being implemented since 2011.
