Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - The ceiling selling prices for oil products will be established by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) once in three months and not once in two weeks, as it is at present. This will be possible after the parliament today adopted amendments and completions to the law on oil products market in two readings.
According to the amendments suggested, the prices will be set depending on the average Platts quotations from the previous period. ANRE has right to adjust the ceiling prices during the quarter only in case of a difference higher than ten per cent of the average Platts quotations related to the average exchange rate of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
The draft was submitted as legislative initiative by MP Vladimir Cernat. According to the author of the initiative, the need of these amendments comes from the social impact of the last administrative acts of ANRE on capping the prices for oil products, which triggered protests.
Following the parliament’s decision, ANRE in a three month period should bring the methodology of the formation and applying of prices for oil products in line with the present law.
