Sixty Moldovan children sick with diabetes benefit from free of charge medical treatment

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 60 children hit by first-type diabetes benefit from free of charge specialized medical care at the Sergeevka centre for children’s rehabilitation from Ukraine.
The children are aged between 2 and 15 years and the treatment started on 22 July and will last till 8 August.
According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, the children were selected by physicians from the endocrinology section of the Mother and Child Institute, depending on the age and seriousness of the evolution of the disease.
During those 18 days of treatment, the children are provided with insulin, glucose meters and tests. They are also assisted by four physicians endocrinologists and pediatricians from republican medical institutions.
The children will also benefit from a training programme, School of Diabetes Patients, within which they will be informed about the control of diabetes and way of choosing correct food products.
The diabetes is one of the most spread non-transmissible chronic diseases and the most frequent endocrine diseases of the century.
In this respect, starting from 2016, on the period 22 July – 8 August, the rehabilitation of children sick with diabetes from all over Moldova is organized at the Sergeevka rehabilitation centre. Thirty eight children were treated in 2016, of whom three children together with mothers and another 106 children in 2017, of whom 28 cones accompanied by mothers.
