Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - Over 300 persons from the Chisinau municipality, of whom 192 children, last week were put in medical institutions specialized in infections with acute diarrheal diseases. The acting head of the Chisinau city hall’s social assistance and health department, Carolina Olaru, made statements to this effect at a weekly meeting of the city hall’s services today.
According to Olaru, 192 persons were hospitalized in all, which accounts for over 60 per cent. “Among the children attending kindergartens, 33 sporadic cases of acute diarrheal diseases were registered in 28 institutions,” Olaru noted.
The clinical symptoms of diarrhea are as follows: high fever up to 40 Celsius degrees, pains in abdomen, nausea, vomit, general weakness, headache. In children, especially small babies up to one year, the clinical signs are developing quicker than in adults and the health condition can worsen in a short time.
If clinical signs of acute diarrheal diseases appear, self-treatment is banned, especially when these symptoms are developing in children. The basic recommendation is to urgently consult a family physician with the prescription of a proper treatment.
