Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - High-level discussions on the integration of the electric energy markets of Ukraine and Moldova took place in the Ukrainian city of Lviv. The cooperation between the two countries, as well as with decision-makers of the Energy Community’s Secretariat is beneficial for achieving the final goal – the integration of the electric energy markets of the two neighbor countries, Director General of Moldova’s National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) Tudor Copaci has said.
The main goals of ANRE are “the creation of premises for the effective opening of the electric energy market for all consumers and providers on the regional market, removing restrictions impeding the carrying out of commercial changes of electric energy on the regional market,” Tudor Copaci said. He noted that among the purposes set, there are “promoting the development of capacities of inter-connection, in order to meet the demand and to contribute to the integration of Moldova’s market into the regional ones and facilitate the cross-border exchanges of electric energy, based on clearly defined, transparent and non-discriminatory mechanisms, in order to efficiently use the capacities of inter-connection.”
The effort made by Moldova is seen in the results it has had in the energy sector on the last period, the director of the Energy Community’s Secretariat, Janez Kopac, said. Thus, only having a fair, transparent cooperation and an open communication, step by step, the expected result in terms of ensuring Moldova’s energy security will be achieved.
At present, Moldova covers 30 per cent of its electricity needs with imports from the DTEK Pavlogradugoli company of Ukraine.
