PM discusses with representatives of Chinese companies willing to invest in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met representatives of the Chinese companies China Railway 14th Bureau Group and  International Engineering Branch, interested in investing in Moldova. The PM appreciated the traditional friendship relations with China and the ascendant dynamic of the bilateral commercial and economic cooperation. Presently, China is the fifth trade partner of Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

Pavel Filip said that a governmental team just on these days negotiates possibility to get a Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and China. Also, to boost the bilateral ties, the procedure for Chinese citizens to enter Moldova has been simplified; they no longer need invitation to this end and those holding a permit of stay in the USA, Schengen member state of EU member state no longer need an entrance visa for Moldova.  

„ Moldova has a friendly legal framework, an advantageous geographical position and it benefits from free economic area with EU and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). We are ready to discuss different forms of cooperation,” Pavel Filip said.   

The prime minister encouraged Chinese companies to participate in the carrying out of projects in strategic sectors for Moldova, such as roads’ infrastructure, railway and airport infrastructures, construction of aqueducts, energy sector and waste processing.

The representatives of the Chinese companies confirmed willingness to invest in these sectors and to come up with concrete proposals, concluding memorandums of understanding to this end just during this visit.   

Eighty five companies with Chinese investments work in Moldova, with the invested capital of almost five million lei. The foreign trade between Moldova and China amounted to more than 245 million dollars in January-May 2018, by 36 per cent more against 2017.
