Moldova, Poland sign declaration on reconfirmation of Moldova's European integration

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has reconfirmed its European integration and appreciated the support provided by Poland on the way towards European integration, according to a joint declaration signed following the fifth session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Moldova and Poland, held in Chisinau today.
After the meeting, the co-heads of the Parliamentary Assembly, Nae-Simion Plesca and Ryszard Terlecki, announced the results of the meeting at a news conference.
The two officials highlighted that the participants in the meeting discussed the implementation of the Association Agreement with EU and the Polish experience in the pre-accession process, programmes of Polish assistance underway in Moldova, new mechanisms of turning to good account the effects of the inter-parliamentary cooperation and post-inter-parliamentary conference titled, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership – Current Security Challenges.
„The cooperation with Poland is nice and successful. We have discussed the support and experience shared by Poland. Presently, there are dozens of twinned settlements, tens of education institutions with a close cooperation with Poland, we have a nice cooperation and in the health sector and the agriculture one. At the same time, in late next September, the first issue of the grapes’ festival will be organized in Poland. Thank you once again for the support provided to get closer to EU,” the co-head of the Assembly, Nae-Simion Plesca said.
For his part, Ryszard Terlecki stressed that Moldova was a very important partner for Moldova. “We have more joint projects underway in the health, defence and education sectors. We reconfirm our support in the European integration of Moldova and we want a nice cooperation in continuation, as the wish for the sovereignty, independence and national identity connects us,” Terlecki noted.
During the visit to Chisinau, the Polish delegation has scheduled meetings with Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, Polish investors and representatives of Moldovan companies beneficiaries of the Polish assistance programme.
The Parliamentary Assembly of Moldova and Poland is a consultative inter-parliamentary body, set up in order to work out common points of view on projects representing object of bilateral interest, especially in the context of the process of Moldova’s association with EU. The Assembly holds plenary sessions, convened once a year, alternately in Poland and Moldova. The last meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly took place in Warsaw on 8-10 October 2017.
The parliamentary Assembly of Moldova and Poland was created in Chisinau in June 2011. At the same time, the Moldovan parliament is member of the trilateral parliamentary assembly Georgia – Ukraine and Moldova.
