Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ - Economic agents carrying out works of roads’ repair in Moldova will be subjected to unforeseen controls.

During verifications held in the Novosiolovca settlement, southern Taraclia district, more irregularities were found out in terms of the way the repair works are carried out. More exactly, the layer of asphalt was put without cleaning the roadway and without applying the bituminous emulsion. The entrepreneur was warned and obliged to remove the asphalt layer put non-qualitatively. According to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, the works have been already remedied – the asphalt laid without observing the technology was cut and replaced. The road segment will be made available for use only after the quality of works is repeatedly verified by the laboratory of the State Administration of Roads.

Such sudden visits take place all over Moldova, in order to check how economic agents involved in the restoration of roads within the Good Roads for Moldova programme observe the works’ quality standards. If non-compliances are found out, entrepreneurs are obliged to repeatedly carry out the repair works at their own expense. Roads are made available for use only after they pass the evaluation of the laboratory of the State Administration of Roads.

„Those 1,200 km of roads should be qualitative. We make sudden controls at all construction sites of the country. We do not watch the speed of carrying out the roads’ repair work, but their quality,” Economics Minister Chiril Gaburici said.

So far, about 340 km of roads have been repaired within the Good Roads for Moldova programme, which accounts for 25 per cent of the works planned. Works are carried out on another 215 km. More than 1,350 km of roads are to be repaired in all settlements till late 2018.
