Moldovan cabinet, European Commission to negotiate loan worth 12 million euros to back growth potential

Chisinau, 25 July /MOLDPRES/ - The European Commission will provide Moldova with 12 million euros to strengthen the growth potential through a transparent, efficient, competitive and resistant economic environment. The cabinet of ministers at a today’s meeting approved a decision on starting negotiations on the agreement on financing and setting up a group of negotiators.
The agreement provides for the financing of 12 million euros by the European Commission, within the European Neighbourhood Instrument and 250,000 euros co-financing approved within the European Union’s Annual Programme 2017.
The delegation of negotiators will be led by State Secretary at the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry Vitalie Iurcu. “The group of negotiators will hold negotiations with the European Commission for the allocation of the financing in an as short period as possible and in mutually advantageous conditions,” the government decision reads.
Under the agreement, support will be provided from the European Commission’s money to those four regions of Moldova: North, South, Centre and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia in such sectors as economic development and market opportunities, strengthening institutions and good governance, as well as for energy efficiency, environment and climate changes.
