Two villages from north Moldova district to be supplied with water with support of Switzerland

Chisinau, 25 July /MOLDPRES/ - The villages Cuhurestii de Sus and Cuhurestii de Jos, northern Floresti district, will be supplied with drinking water due to Switzerland’s support. The sides involved in the carrying out of the project on 24 July assembled to coordinate the installation and construction works for the aqueduct.   

The works from these two villages are part of the programme, Water for Life in North Region: Floresti and Soroca districts, carried out by the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord). According to the institution, the participants in the meeting gave final touches to the last details of the project, with the works due to start next week. “Aqueduct systems will be built and installed, which will provide with quality water about 4,000 residents of the Cuhurestii de Sus and Cuhurestii de Jos villages,” sources of ADR Nord said.    

Within the project, more than 33,000 metres of aqueducts networks will be constructed, over 1,500 metres of feed pipe in a sector and more than 3,300 metres in another one. At the same time, intake stations will be constructed, including to take spring water, a pumping station, four water reservoirs of 50 cubic metres each.  

The sub-project from Cuhurestii de Sus and Cuhurestii de Jos is part of the project  Water for Life in North Region: Floresti and Soroca districts, carried out by ADR Nord, in partnership with branch from Moldova of the SKAT Foundation – the implementer of Switzerland’s project on Water and Sanitation in Moldova – ApaSan, stock company Servicii Comunale Floreşti (Floresti Public Utilities) and partner mayoralties.     

The project’s overall budget is more than 66.1 million lei, of which about 30 million lei is demanded from sources of the National Regional Development Fund and another 30 million lei is co-financing of ApaSan; the rest of the money is local authorities’ contribution. The major goal of the project is to provide ten rural settlements from the Floresti and Soroca districts with qualitative drinking water.
