Eight district from southern Moldova participate in economic project backed by EU

Chisinau, 25 July /MOLDPRES/ - Southern Gate of Moldova Opened for Promotion of Business and Investments is the title of a project launched in the southern Cimislia town today. The project is financed by the European Union within an initiative, Mayors for Economic Growth.
The project will comprise those eight districts of the South Development Region: Basarabeasca, Cahul, Cantemir, Causeni, Cimislia, Stefan Voda, Leova and Taraclia.
The general goal of the project consists in local economic development and improving the entrepreneurial competitiveness of small- and medium-sized enterprises from the region, increasing the volume of investments attracted into the economy of the South Development Region.
“In this programme, we have set to strengthen the managerial capacities of entrepreneurs from the south region, to create the first regional network of consultancy in business. At the same time, we will elaborate investment profiles in eight districts, by developing a portal for the promotion of investment opportunities,” the director of the South Regional Development Agency (ADR Sud), Maria Culesov, said at the project launch ceremony.
For his part, a representative of the EU Delegation in Moldova, Aneil Singh, said that “the European Union, through its cooperation strategy, set its principal goal to provide direct benefits to citizens.” “The South Gate of Moldova is open for the promotion of business and investments, being a good example of regional cooperation for backing the private sector, which directly contributes to achieving the European objective of economic development and creation of jobs,” Aneil Singh noted.
The project, Southern Gate of Moldova Opened for Promotion of Business and Investments, was worked out within a nationwide participatory process, with the involvement of representatives of those eight districts from southern Moldova. The programme is financed by the European Union within the initiative, Mayors for Economic Growth, and implemented by the Cimislia district council, in partnership with the Organization for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development and ADR South. The cost of the project is 336,000 euros, with a period of implementation of 18 months.
