Lithuania to continue firmly supporting Moldova's European integration

Chisinau, 25 July /MOLDPRES/ - Lithuania will further provide support for the strengthening of Moldova’s European integration and for carrying out development projects in the country. Lithuanian Ambassador to Moldova Rimantas Latakas gave assurances to this effect at a today meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, on the occasion of the end of his mandate in Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The PM thanked the ambassador for the fruitful work in Chisinau during the four years of mandate. “We have enjoyed a friendly, sincere and objective attitude,” Pavel Filip said.

In the context, the prime minister highlighted the contribution to organizing more high-level visits, as well as providing Lithuanian assistance for Moldova’s development in such important sector as regional development, youth, domestic affairs, emergency situations, road traffic and food safety. Also, the PM appreciated the support provided by the high-level EU advisers from Lithuania.  

For his part, the Lithuanian official stressed that Moldova would remain a priority beneficiary of the support for development on behalf of Lithuania, including to catalyze the process of Moldova’s European integration. The diplomat confirmed willingness to share Lithuania’s experience in reforms’ implementation.  

„Moldova wants to be a European country and for this, first of all, - to adopt European values. The reforms must be implemented simultaneously in all sectors; our only plan is the European integration and we do everything to strengthen this way,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip said.
