Vehicles from Transnistrian region to receive neutral registration plates, to be allowed to international road traffic

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The owners of vehicles from the Transnistrian region will receive neutral registration plates and will be allowed to the international road traffic as of 1 September 2018, under a draft law adopted by the parliament in the second reading today.
According to the document, the transport means, including the tows, motorcycles and bicycles with auxiliary engine, will be able to get plates with neutral registration numbers for movement in the international road traffic. The plates will be issued by subdivisions of the Public Services Agency, at the offices opened in the Bender and Rabnita cities, without paying the rights of import and without the compulsory presentation of customs documents.
The transport means owned till 24 April 2018 and which are presently registered in the administrative and territorial units from the left bank of Dniester and Bender municipality could be registered.
The owners will present confirmatory documents which prove the residence of the person and the right to property, accompanied by a declaration on one’s own responsibility, written by the applicant, on the truthfulness of the information.
The draft law also sees that the transport means registered based on these provisions can be sold to people with residence in settlements on the left bank of Dniester and Bender city or to legal entities carrying out entrepreneurial activity in the administrative and territorial units from the left bank of Dniester and Bender municipality without the payments of the rights to import.
If the transport means are sold to persons residing in settlements from the right bank of Dniester, the registration of the new owner will be made on condition that the transport means is not prohibited to be introduced in Moldova and with the payment of the rights to import.
The decision on the participation of vehicles from the Transnistrian region in the international road traffic was signed by the political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol in the process of talks on the Transnistrian settlement on 24 April 2018.
