Moldovan leu slightly appreciates against main reference currencies

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) has posted the official exchanges rates for the main reference currencies for 27 July. According to them, the Moldovan leu continues to slightly appreciate against the single European currency and the U.S. dollar.

Thus, euro will cheapen by 0.02 lei and will cost 19.44 lei. The dollar will depreciate by 0.04 lei and will cost 16.60 lei.

The Romanian leu will keep at 4.20 lei, just as the Ukrainian hryvnia and the Russian rouble, which will stay at 0.62 lei and 0.26 lei, respectively.

According to BNM, in last June, the Moldovan leu’s exchange rate appreciated by 0.7 per cent against the dollar.

The Bank’s data also shows that, in the month before, the degree of coverage of the net demand of currency on behalf of economic agents by supply of currency from private persons was 106.5 per cent, against 93.7 per cent in May 2018. At the same time, BNM intervened on market by purchasing 20 million dollars.
